This is a 30″ steel target, at 1000 yards, in a strong crosswind.
The hits were made by USM students who had never shot more than 200 yards.
The vertical deviations were caused by the target swinging in the wind.

THIS IS NOT A:
– Roadside Amusement class
– Bucket List class
– “Now I can say that I’ve done it” class
– Basic Rifle Skills class
THIS IS A CLASS FOR EXPERIENCED SHOOTERS, who are comfortable shooting their rifle, and now want to formally learn how to shoot that rifle at long distances.
PREREQUISITES
- Students must be at least 18 years old.
Exceptions can be made for students with a proven shooting history.
Students young as 16 require legal guardian to also attend the class.
A pre-test may be required to prove proficiency.
Contact us BEFORE registering. - Students must be able to shoot at lease a 4 MOA (8”) group at 200 yards when they arrive at class.
Any additional instruction required to achieve this standard will be charged at the individual coaching rate. - Students must use a Bolt Action Rifle.
Exceptions can be made for certain rifles.
Contact us BEFORE registering. - The Rifle must be capable of shooting 1 MOA (2” at 200 yards.
NO EXCEPTIONS. - A Scope with Ballistic Drop Compensating (BDC) Turrets is required.
NO EXCEPTIONS. - Match Grade Ammunition is required.
Hornady Match, Federal Gold Medal Match, etc.
30 rounds minimum, 50 recommended. - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Scope of least 20X.
Stock with an Adjustable Cheek Rest and Length of Pull.
Long Range shooting requires aptitude and motivation to be successful.
Upon successful completion of this course you should expect the following:
- Your scope will be properly mounted and adjusted, and your rifle will be properly fitted to you
- You will understand the 5 Fundamentals of Marksmanship and how to apply them to Long Range Shooting
- You will be able to make contact with a 1.5 MOA target at 600 yards
